MWRF 2021: Let’s Recap…

Thank you to everyone who participated in the inaugural MetroWest Readers Fest in 2021!

When MWRF was incorporated as a 501c3, the intent was to bring an accessible and lively slate of “literary programming” to MetroWest Boston. All of us are readers — and we all like to read different types of things — so the aim has always been to creating programming that celebrates you: Readers.

However, a pandemic put a wee bit of a wrench in those plans and we had to change course. So the way we decided to approach the uncertainty of planning a “festival” in 2021 was to instead coordinate and promote a “one book, one community” initiative. After all, you don’t need to meet in a group in order to read — you just need a book…and maybe a comfy chair or nice beverage. (Right?!)

Despite the ups and downs of planning something new during a pandemic, MWRF successfully...

  • Hosted a fun kickoff event with pop-up bookshop Hygge House Books at The Wayside Inn;

  • Organized a giveaway of Jennifer De Leon's books WHITE SPACE: ESSAYS ON CULTURE, RACE, & WRITING and DON'T ASK ME WHERE I'M FROM, in conjunction with Goodnow Library and sponsored by the Goodnow Library Foundation;

  • Created and shared resources (discussion questions, articles, etc.) about Jennifer De Leon and her books;

  • Coordinated Little Free Library Scavenger Hunt Bingo!

 MWRF would specifically like to thank the following sponsors and supporters: The Sudbury Foundation, Middlesex Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, SPARK Kindness, Avidia Bank Charitable Foundation, Sudbury Cultural Council, The Silver Unicorn Bookstore, Goodnow Library (Sudbury), Goodnow Library Foundation, Ashland Public Library, Ashland High School, Hygge House Books, and The Wayside Inn Foundation.

 Thank you for hanging tight as we continue updating our website and eventually roll out announcements for MWRF 2022. (It’s gonna be good!) In the meantime, take a stroll down memory lane with these pictures.
